Review:
The similarity between this film and The Exorcist is evident even from the trailers, so I will not go too far into it. Just suffice to say that possession includes any impact or shock value, The Exorcist has. In short, just not as good film.However in its own right, it is a horror movie pretty competent. The history of the central characters is kind of cliche. Husband and wife divorced, they share the care of the children, theres boyfriend / girlfriend on the new image, etc. This type of setup is always useful when dealing with cluttered up film child. In this way can what is wrong with the child will inevitably be blamed on the fact that the child is just not coping well with the break up of his parents. And thats exactly what happens in possession unless there is something very wrong with the youngest daughter, and has absolutely nothing to do with his parents. Without revealing too much, the youngest daughter plot centers around an old wooden box available at auction yard. Of course, she wants, so she gets it. And there begins to be some pretty strange phenomena, most of which is totally creepy, some types of hokey.All in all I was happy. The film had good pacing, decent acting, and cinematography uncommon. Theres not much I can find fault here. If I had to mention my big gripe about this and similar films, it would be this: I am thrilled about the influx of PG-13 horror movie. I've suspected this because of the need to bring a wider audience (viewers / young people under), and make more money on ticket sales. For this reason, the final product tends to be diluted too much for my taste. Have shown a lot of promise, but I can not help but want writers / director would have pushed the envelope a little more flesh out the story. So, it would have been great. As it is now, Ill just say its a good little thriller. Nothing will be talking about this time next year, but I consider my money well spent.My Rating: 6.5/10
